Three Postdoctoral Positions in Astrophysics

The Theoretical Astrophysics Group (TAG) at Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) invites outstanding applicants for three postdoctoral positions to contribute to cutting-edge research on the influence of gravity and magnetic fields on interstellar matter and the formation process of stars, planets and black holes. Our group employs a synergistic approach, combining theoretical models and numerical simulations with observational data via synthetic observations.

We are seeking motivated candidates with a strong background in theoretical, computational, and/or observational astrophysics. Preference will be given to candidates with proven expertise in one or more of the following areas: Dust Astrophysics, Interstellar Magnetic Fields, Star Formation and Stellar Feedback, Grain Growth and Planet Formation, MHD Simulations, Radiative Transfer Modeling, and Polarization Data Analysis .

The appointment is expected to start on February 1st, 2025, but the exact date is negotiable and no later than December 1st, 2025. The initial appointment is for two years, with a possible extension to the third year, depending on research performance.

The successful candidates will join a vibrant research team led by PI Thiem Hoang and have access to world-class observational facilities (ALMA, JCMT, KVN, Gemini, SPHEREX), theoretical models/numerical codes (DustPOL-py, POLARIS), and high-performance computing facilities. The positions offer ample opportunities for collaboration with domestic and international experts on theory, observations, and simulations.

Application Process: For required documents and application process, please refer to KASI Webstite (Area Code P15).
Application Period: November 22nd, 2024 ~ December 23rd, 2024 (Deadline: 15:00, Korea Time). For any inquiries or questions, please contact Dr. Thiem Hoang (thiemhoang at kasi.re.kr).
